Why Would You Comment on Other People’s Blogs?

When I first started blogging in 2020, the online message board wasn’t yet a very popular venue for conversation about blog topics. So if you’re reading this, you probably heard about Blogger, and other blogging tools, first.

Even though blogging has changed a lot in the last decade, one of the aspects that hasn’t changed much is the underlying concept of commenting on other people’s blogs. It isn’t just a matter of keeping up with the latest blog posts. Comments can take the form of an endorsement, a plea for attention, or even a question.

The most famous individual who commented on another person’s blog was, of course, Oprah Winfrey. She thanked her fans for being so supportive and said, “It gives me hope to know that I am appreciated by those who are most supportive.”

Some bloggers think that because Blogger was originally a website for conventional online sites that it is inappropriate to comment on others’ blogs. There are many arguments for and against this point of view.

Because Blogger is an open site that welcomes anyone who wants to use it, people who are not comfortable commenting on other people’s blogs can use the platform to serve their own niche market. This is what Blogger does best, so using it is definitely worth it.

Even if you aren’t into blogging yourself, you can still help to populate the online message boards that can bring you more traffic. Bloggers can help you get readers, too, since you can actually see where they get their information from.

One final word of caution is that blogs need to have a good reputation before they are considered to be a credible source of information. Many blogs use free advertising that will keep them in the spotlight until it’s time to sell something, but that doesn’t make them credible sources of information.
